Before and After

Hand crafted from the shoes you send us, your tiny ceramic baby shoes are made using the same process as any cast sculpture.

First, the real shoes are cast in plaster to make the mould in which the clay slip replica of the shoes is made. The ‘cast’ is then chased/refined by hand and allowed to air dry before your choice of glaze colour is applied, after which the piece is kiln fired. Your original shoes will be cleaned and returned to you with your ceramic baby shoes.

The process can take several weeks to complete, so if you are ordering tiny shoes as a gift for a special occasion, please order early. We have gift vouchers for grandparents and those who may not be able to obtain the original shoes themselves, yet wish to give an unusual and unexpected gift.
